GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The 1972 Whitby Alberg 37 is best described as a strong, traditional offshore cruiser built for sailors who value safety, simplicity, and seaworthiness over modern speed-oriented design. With proper refit and care, these vessels remain capable ocean voyaging sailboats with a loyal following among bluewater cruisers.

ACTUAL CONDITION
This vessel presents a solid opportunity for a hands-on buyer looking for a well-progressed project with significant investment already behind it. The previous owner dedicated over five years to restoration, putting in substantial time and money, including a professionally rebuilt Yanmar 3JH3E 29HP engine with no hours since completion.

The interior shows nicely, with woodwork professionally refinished. It’s equipped with a respectable electronics package, including Raytheon radar, Raymarine autopilot with windvane integration, and ST60 instruments. Comfort and livability are supported by a Force 10 propane stove, Cozy Cabin heater, Dometic refrigeration system, and microwave.

Mechanically and electrically, key upgrades have been completed: new inverter/charger, new batteries, updated lighting, solar panel system, and a rewired electrical setup (2005). Fuel and holding systems have also been addressed with a custom aluminum fuel tank and a new 20-gallon bladder tank.

Rigging was replaced in 2005, featuring Selden in-mast furling and roller furling, with sails reported in good condition. The hull has been properly prepped with a full strip to gelcoat and finished with a 4-coat barrier system, along with a new cutlass bearing.
